Fourth of July

We had fun celebrating Independence Day this year! Prepping Grace Louise's bike in the morning for the Lake Wales Bike Parade and having friends over for fajitas... because that's American, right?!

While our menu could have certainly been more patriotic, the rest of our day was spot on for the good ol' US of A.

Grace Louise loved decorating her bike with red, white, and blue and was eagerly looking forward to riding with friends around the lake. Jamesy's red wagon needed little decoration, as nothing says America quite like a Radio Flyer.

Though she scooted around on her bike for a few minutes before the parade started, she didn't actually participate with the other children. The reality was more like the picture below... the pressure was more than she could bear, apparently. I'm not sure if she felt like it was a race or was just not comfortable with all the people, but she abandoned her bike in the grass and didn't go near it until the parade was over and the hustle and bustle of the crowd fizzled out.

After a nice afternoon nap- again, keeping with American traditions here- friends came over for some slip and slide fun, watermelon, barbecuing, and of course, fireworks!
